A brief description of Association tournaments at Western Turnpike appears below. Unless otherwise noted, you can create your own team/foursome or the Event committee can assist.
Tournament prizes include gross & net winners and “closest to the flag stick” on the par 3’s. Optional gross/net skins are offered at some individual & team tournaments, and 50/50 raffle tickets are sold at every tournament.

“3-2-1” – Men’s & Women’s – 4 person team event

Format: Individual stroke play with team scoring; one “best” score is used on par 5’s, two scores used on par 4’s and three scores used on par 3’s. Teams are formed by the Committee.

Club Championships – Women’s & Men’s (Major) – Two-three day event

Format: Stroke play in “even” years and Match play in “odd” years. Flights are seeded according to handicap and formed by the committee.

Fall Handicap – Men’s & Women’s

Format: Individual stroke play.

Gross/Net – Men’s

Format: Individual stroke play.

Member/Guest – Women’s 4 person team – Two day event

Format: TBD. Teams are formed by the Captains.

Member/Member – Women’s & Men’s (Major) – 2 person team – Two day event

Format: TBD

Metropolitan – 4 person mixed team event

Format: Team scramble. Everyone hits a tee shot, choose the preferred drive, then other three players hit next shot. Follow this format, with the person whose shot is selected sitting out the next shot, until the ball is holed.

Mixed Bridgemen 4 person mixed team event

Format: 1 net “best ball” of 4 used on holes 1-6, 2 net “best balls” of 4 used on holes 7-12, 3 net “best balls” of 4 used on holes 13-17, and all 4 net scores will be used on the 18th hole.

Mixed Scramble – 4 person mixed team event

Format: All players hit a tee shot, then all players hit from the spot of the selected shot, repeating until the ball is holed.

Teams are formed by the Committee based on handicaps (A, B, C, D player)

Mixed Shamble – 4 person mixed team event

Format: Team Shamble; all players hit a tee shot, then all play their own ball from the selected tee shot until the ball is is holed. Teams are formed by the Committee.

Presidents’ Cup – Men’s & Women’s (Major) – Two day event

Format: Individual stroke play. Second round pairings are based upon the first round gross scores.

Red/White/Blue Scramble – 4 person mixed team event

Format: Team Shamble; all players hit a tee shot, then all play their own ball from the selected tee shot until the ball is is holed. Each team plays 6 holes from each of the Silver, Gold & Green tees. The team score is 3 best balls of 4 net. Come dressed in your red, white & blue!

Ryder Cup Event – Women’sTwo day event

Format: 1st day – alternate shot & 4 Ball (Better Ball of Partners); 2nd day – two separate 9-hole match play contests. (Note: Format subject to change.)

Co-Captains pick teams and pairings.

Senior & Super Senior Club Championship – Men’s & Women’s (Major)Two day event

Format: Flighted individual stroke play. Sunday pairings based on Saturday gross scores. You must be 50 years or older to qualify and flights are based on age; players over age 65 automatically qualify for the Super Senior Championship. Prizes awarded to gross & net winners of each flight. Overall low gross score is the Senior Champion; low gross for 65 and older is the Super Senior Champion.

Spring Handicap – Women’s & Men’s (Major) – Two day event

Format: Individual stroke play.

2 Best Balls of 4 – Women’s & Men’s – 4 person team event

Format: Each member of the foursome plays their own ball. Team selects the two best net & gross scores per hole. 

2 Person Better Ball – Women’s & Men’s – 2 person team event

Format: Stroke play. The team picks best ball gross & net score for each hole.
